How builders handle the cost
Most builders treat Kingpost as a small project cost — the same way they handle dumpster fees, permit fees, or porta-potties. On a $50K-$500K project, $79/month is a rounding error. Some add it to their proposals:
Sample proposal language
“We use Kingpost, a progress reporting system that sends you real-time photo updates and a build journal. This is included as part of our project management and helps keep everything transparent and documented.”
Common questions
Do I need to download an app?
No. Kingpost works in your phone's browser. You can add it to your home screen for quick access, and it works just like a native app.
What if I have bad cell service on the job site?
Kingpost works offline. If you have no signal, your check-in — photos, notes, checklist, everything — saves to your phone automatically and syncs the moment you get a connection. Photos are also compressed so even a weak signal handles them fine. Built for rural Maine, works everywhere.
Can my client see the journal without creating an account?
Yes. You share a magic link with your client. They tap it and see their build journal. No signup, no password, no friction. Updates appear in real time.
Can I use past journals to win new bids?
Absolutely — this is one of the most powerful features. Show prospective clients the journal from your last three builds during your sales pitch. Nothing builds trust like proof.
What about the off-season? I don't build November through March.
Annual plans save you 2 months. Your past journals stay live and shareable year-round, so they work for you even when you're not actively building — especially when bidding new projects in the spring.
What happens if I cancel?
Your data stays accessible. Your clients' journal links continue to work. You just can't create new check-ins beyond the free tier limits.
Is my data secure?
Yes. We use Supabase (built on PostgreSQL) with row-level security. Your data is isolated from other users and encrypted in transit.
